Quintero – F to G

This should probably be an H. Or J. :-)

But G-part difficulty is as high as the Code goes. So far.

You have to wonder what it was doing down at F in the first place. Someone didn’t think that through.

As far as I understand, it was a typo. Fs and Gs share the same column in the Code of Points, and the only notation distinguishing an F from a G is the letter “G” printed inside the skill box. My understanding is that when compiling the 2013 Code, the FIG Men’s Technical Committee mistakenly omitted the “G” from the Quintero skill box. (This is actually old news: FIG made this correction in December 2012 at the Intercontinental judging course in Bratislava and then at all subsequent International judging courses.)

Someone named Adrian Stoica?

Ah ha.

I’d not heard that at our Judging course in January.

Makes sense, though. … It obviously should carry the highest rated value.

I did hear that Quintero said he’d NEVER do it again.

Ah. They should have mentioned it. I know the MTC made a point of telling us about it several times during the course in Colorado Springs, and our Intercontinental Course attendees had it in their course notes. Another typical example of FIG communication, I’m afraid (though I am more optimistic now that Steve had formally taken over).

I vaguely recall hearing that anecdote about Quintero. (And I had forgotten that you rejoined the ranks of FIG judges – something that I’m glad about.)
