Gabby Jupp – Beam

Beautiful Gymnastics American Cup Highlights:

… WOW! I knew she was going to be a treat on beam and floor as I’ve had my eye on her for quite a while now, but her bars and her confidence were unexpected. You would think she was the seasoned Vanessa Ferrari and not a brand new unknown senior at her first big assignment.

She absolutely attacked her beam and bars though never sacrificing finesse or polish. Beautiful lines, fabulous toepoint, astonishing elegance. And SO underscored. …

Score: 14.433 (6.3, 8.133)

8.1 execution does seem awfully low for this routine.

What’s scammy is the NBC coverage – maybe instead of talking about the Fierce Five, Nastia and Valeri, and how much better the Americans are than everyone else, they could actually show some routines. There’s only 16 gymnasts competing; you should be able to show AT LEAST two routines from each.

The execution score does seem really low. On a side note, but related to beam, does anyone know anything more about the no connection bonus if there is a back and forward arm swing on beam? Tim and Nastia were making a big deal about it, but I don’t see anything in the code of points.
They made it sound like a horrible idea that eliminated some of the more interesting combinations, but, I haven’t seen anyone else say anything about it. Maybe it’s not as bad as they made it sound.

I hate it when people ignore obvious things that are awful about a routine they think is underscored. Did y’all SEE that switch ring? It was awful and a breeding ground for deduction. Her sheep jump is pretty bad, too.

are you serious? that sheep jump was so high, clean and precise
