Olympics: Epke v Fabian

Who has the better “form”?

Epke Zonderland and Fabian Hambüchen (Comparison) High Bar Olympic Games London 2012.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

Love the synchro dismounts.

… But it’s no contest. Our Olympic Champion is one of the biggest “hacks” of the top contenders. Fabian and Kohei, two of the cleanest.

Fabian is definitely cleaner in an overall aesthetic sense, but his routine construction opens him up to a lot of technical deductions that Epke has wisely avoided

Does anyone know if this is true? I heard from a judge I respect recently that touching the ground with your hand in any kind of a support is now is a 1 point deduction? Can anyone confirm this is true? I haven’t seen that rule anywhere?

Everyone looks clean compared to Zou Kai.

At the MAG Judging course we were told that putting weight on one or two hands will now be considered a 1.0 deduction.

Deduct IF gymnast would have fallen if not for the support of the hand(s).

Thank you Rick for that. That is going to be hard on a lot of little 6, 7, 8, and 9 year olds.
