5 MAG commit to College

Ron Noe:

I can’t recall in the past seeing many gymnasts, if any at all, announcing their college commitments before the early signing period. So far, as of October 30, five gymnasts have publicly announced via Twitter and/or Facebook.

Thanks to social media, many of our top high school seniors are talking about their college recruiting trips. The naysayers may think otherwise, but this has a positive effect on the younger guys, and creates a much-needed buzz for the sport. …

Illinois: Chandler Eggleston

Ohio State: Sean Melton, Jacob Dastrup

Oklahoma: Colin Van Wicklen, Alex Powarzynski

Anyone else think that a high profile athlete and high school senior dressed up as a breathalyzer test with the caption “Blow Here” around his mid-section might not want to post a picture of said costume to the internet in case it got re-posted to a highly trafficked gymnastics community website/blog?
Just sayin’….

It was posted publicly on Facebook. And is linked.

I thought it was pretty funny myself. The guys are young adults and would not complain, I don’t think.

If there is a complaint from anyone, I’ll remove it.

Are you complaining Anonymous? … Say the word.

Anyone else think that some people will find anything to get worked up about? Don’t like his costume? Don’t wear it. Don’t look at the photo.

He’s an 18-year-old kid, right? Seems pretty harmless to me.

PS: Anyone who thinks that a junior national team male team member is “high profile” needs to attend USAs. Seriously. A crowd of five would double the junior boys audience.
