My buddy Derek in Idaho is excited about the NBC Olympics Live Extra app. Free for iPad and iPhone.
There’s an Android app too, I’m told.
Reviews are mostly negative, sadly. It’s only available from the U.S. iTunes store, so don’t bother if you are from anywhere else.
NBC uses Adobe® Flash® not HTML5.
And is (mostly) not available outside the USA:

Yes, very excited!!! Every four years it is getting easier to get live Olympic content during working hours. Our internet provider is opening the pipe during the Olympics for our gym to stream all the coverage we can handle to 3 TV’s, Projector, and 4 Ipads. Since most of the gymnastics will be aired early AM in Idaho, the Theory would be that we will be able to watch it live in the morning and then replay the good stuff throughout the day for our customers. We’ll have to see how that works out… We do luckily meet the criteria for the nbcolympics.com site. I’d love to hear how others are getting the content into their gyms (DVR, YouTube, Cable, or Satellite providers, not at all???)
Another problem is that the NBC Olympics Extra site requires users to verify their cable subscription before viewing the live streamed full events. Unfortunately, they do not have all cable companies included in their list of cable providers. (Mine is one that is missing.) Their solution: just wait until we add it. I’m calling my cable company today to see how they can help from their end.
Rick the CTV app, and online site, is offering live streaming without subscription to Canadian’s. It has all the gymnastics live, and is on tv too on various channels.
I checked it on my iPad and the soccer was streaming beautifully.
Actually the NBC is available for Android users as well so not just Apple users.
