difficult to read web pages …

If you follow this site you know I link to Blythe Lawrence’s Examiner blog more than any other.

But it’s getting increasingly cluttered. That’s not Blythe, but rather the host — Examiner.

In frustration with the pop-up shown, I downloaded a free Google Chrome browser extension called Clearly. (There are others similar.)

With one click, Clearly makes blog posts and articles clean and easy to read. Clearly eliminates all distractions from your online reading experience, and even allows you to browse multi-page articles in one, seamless view.

Connect Clearly to Evernote to clip and sync articles with every computer, phone and tablet you use. …

Here’s how Examiner looks after being interpreted by Clearly.

If these utilities get popular, companies like Examiner will have to come up with less annoying, deceptive advertisements.

Why can’t I pay for a version of Gymnastics Examiner ad free?

If interested for yourself, watch how Clearly works on YouTube.

Note. Clearly doesn’t work on some web pages. Video heavy Aunt Joyce, for example.

P.S. I’ll occasionally click on some Examiner ads, just to support Blythe. Even better, why doesn’t someone hire her away from Examiner? She’s too good for them.

Is Blythe actually classified as a blogger or journalist? I have always thought of her of more as a journalist. Although I guess the line is becoming more blurred these days.

I use Readability for cluttered pages: http://www.readability.com/

Works like a charm.

She’s quite good. Examiner is really a bunch of blogs…but she is easily one of the better journalists there. Hope she can land a regular gig somewhere. Even just doing regular journalism, not gym.

I would rather think of Examiner as a bunch of blogs – some of which are written by real political nutbars – than an actual news source.

I made the mistake of clicking on one of the other news stories on the side once, not realizing what I was getting into. Yikes. Blythe is by far the best thing on it.

Thanks for this info about the “clearly”
