Not many for those athletes preparing for the Olympic Test Meet in January. Louis Smith, for example.
… athletes will have only four days off for Christmas and two at the New Year in a schedule that takes them right up to the crucial test event …

I am pretty sure it is less than that in Canada for the women’s team because the selection is on Dec. 27th
4 days for us also. 3 meets in January. Tough schedule dictates time off. Normally we take at least a week off.
Right. I’ll bet some girls are taking only 25th rest, 26th travel as the taper / break.
Sneaky scheduling on the part of Gymnastics Canada.
We are taking three friday saturday and sunday.
Our Optionals only have Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are on the weekend. Sunday definitely, though I would understand an early Saturday practice.
I could see a Monday practice as well. Same with NYE/NYD.
However, a lot of this depends on how many kids are going to actually come in to practice and if they are in season or post season.
Optionals and MAG are in season now in Region1 but most of compulsory is done in early December (though there is a new push to also have a Compulsory State in the early part of the year – I hear other regions also compete compulsory spring/fall as well).
OTOH, I have been known to travel for Christmas and Thanksgiving since my family was in Socal and I was in Norcal.
Most of the British Gymnasts working towards the test event are having just Sunday and Monday off.
Italian gymnasts have 2 rest days,the 24th and the 25th since there’s a test on the 26th.
