Yeah brilliant! Hurt the ones that everyone comes to see! They could have earmarked 1% of all the concession sales to pay for the prize money and probably had money to burn. Why oh why would you hurt of all people the athletes? But I noticed that all the judges had pretty matching scarves.
The article indicates that its because the organizers couldn’t agree on how to fund the jackpot, but they will next year. Hmmm. By the way, fire the PR firm after this one.

The judges might have actually had to pay for their own uniform. I know they do in the US.
If this had been a national organisation and only affected gymnasts in that nation, the organisation would be liable for breach of contract (promise).
However, the fact this has an international element to it makes it far harder for the FIG to be held accountable.

The way the FIG proposes to solve this problem next year is simply to make the organizers of the four all-around World Cups pay an extra 25,000 Swiss Francs.

I’m almost certain the FIG does not benefit from the services of a a PR agency!
Even if the problem is fixed for next year, I doubt so many big names show up if they are relying on the prize money. I don’t understand how this happens. Don’t promise an amount you don’t have…
