The new Google +1 button has been added to the bottom of each post.

The +1 button is shorthand for “this is pretty cool” or “you should check this out.” … Your +1′s can help friends, contacts, and others on the web find the best stuff when they search.
Google is rolling out new features to the +1 button. Here’s a video explaining how it will work once it gets to you.

Dislike these features. Hate the sites that assume we are all on Facebook as well (like The Couch Gymnast for chat and quick hits) or who even have comments where you have to be logged into Facebook (Gymnast Examiner)
+1 for TCO’s reply.
… I was reluctant to jump on the Facebook bandwagon, resisting for a while.
But it’s been a benefit, overall. Google + is even better.
Certainly you can IGNORE those buttons. They load after the post itself, so I don’t think they are any slow down for you.
Check out my new gymnastics blog at gymwatcher.blogspot.com
how did you add the +1… can anyone sign up for it (so that i can add it to my site), or do you need a special developer or something license.
The movement to Facebook is because MOST internet users have a Facebook account. And it’s easy. And free. I guess its just like cable tv or something, people who don’t have it may miss out on some things but then at least with FB it isn’t because of the cost, more a moral stance.
I use the ShareThis plugin on a WordPress.org install.
They updated that plugin yesterday to include Google+. So it was only a couple of clicks for me to add it.
… But I have seen that Google will give you HTML code to add it manually.
