how cool is that? One of the toughest guys on the planet endorsing gymnastics….you can’t buy that type of publicity. just awesome! Note to USAG, jump on this marketing oppurtunity immediately. thanks Coach Rick, I’m putting this on my facebook right now
Loving GSP even more now.
The UFC and MMA communities have money and influence, and they have been active in helping college wrestling programs.
It would be great if somehow they could get involved in promoting and supporting men’s college gymnastics.
I have always felt that gymnastics strength is a much better way for the average person to develop their strength than lifting weights. It’s great to see that a top athlete from another sport can also use it to their advantage.
I think that gymnastics centres need to start offering strength programs and not just traditional gymnastics classes. There’s a big market there that our sport is not taking advantage of.
Truthfully, it wouldn’t matter what strength program GSP is on…as his former strength coach, Jonathan Chaimberg, constantly says…Georges is basically a freak of nature. The guy is a genetic specimen.
The same can be said for Jon “Bones” Jones the new UFC light heavyweight champion. He’s a freak as well. I saw one of his workouts and the workout program was all screwy in my opinion – way too much volume and not an appropriate emphasis on strength and power. Set up horribly by his strength coach. But, does it even matter? He’s still manhandling everybody.
With that said, it’s cool that GSP is giving gymnastics some recognition.
