This just gets worse and I find it hard to believe.
Are Liu and his stepson Americans? It would seem that the best route would be to file a separate suit against them in China rather than in NY, unless she’s trying to take advantage of the US legal system (maybe it’s easier to settle those types of cases here rather than there).
Also, unless Turner’s “promise” can be proven to be a contract, there’s no way it will hold up. I imagine her attorneys are just trying to get them to settle, just to get rid of the case.
I feel bad for her (particularly if there was sexual abuse), but I just don’t see how Turner or USA gymnastics are responsible.
Whether it’s true or not, waiting so long to file claims and throwing out ridiculous figures (2 billion anyone……….) is just a shit idea.
Anyone who knows anything about her lawyer would have to say that this poor girl is used by a hungry, greedy guy who desperately wants to make a name for himself. He is notorious in the Chinese community in America for making unsustained and unnecessary claims against heavy weights. Needless to say, he never won. For Sang Lan’s case, according to Sang Lan’s manager (as published on Chinese web), they got hold of the lawyer and were inspired to file the law suit after seeing the lawyer’s comment and contact info left by the lawyer at Sang Lan’s blog. I felt so bad for Lan. She used to be such an adorable girl, but now she is used as a puppy in this ridiculous exercise. For those who do not know: in addition to Time Warner, US Gymnastics Association, the insurance company, etc., she is also suing the Chinese American couple in NY who cared for her for 1 year after the accident and who for 13 years she had always openly called “my greatest benefactor ”. This is the Liu family. They are American citizens living in America for decades.
Sang Lan had been openly calling Liu’s stepson “my dearest brother” for years. Now, after being enligtened, she suddenly remembered that the Lius had helped her to bath when she was in NY (according to Chinese Web, this is where the sexual abuse claim was all about). BTW, how paralyed people get bathed absent female nannies?
If this suit goes through, I wonder who would dare to sponsor gymnastics meet in the future, and who dare to volunteer to care for injuried gymnasts.

I fear you are right. What a shame for her to go through all this for nothing. … Or perhaps for donations, once the suit is dismissed.
