I’m surprised this isn’t more common. In our gym, it’s done all together. The parents are invited in and each competitive group (boys and girls) names the gymnast and the reason. They come to shake hands with the group coaches and head coach and stand at the front. It’s made a big deal.We also applaud gymnasts competing next weekend and wish them luck. Then the pictures of gymnasts of the week go on the wall right over the front desk. I think it really helps to recognise the achievements at all ages and levels.
