Genius! I hope there’s a bonus for accuracy, too
well if I were judging I would hope that I had vault.
The State meet I just attended (as a coach), Vault was the slowest. Kids were having to wait 30 minutes or more just to warm up. I had a group of 6 year olds that had to wait almost an hour.
Sounds like they threw the new judge on vault.. happens a lot at big invites.
My experience down here in the US of A, is that the problem is that every gymnast takes the table at a different height. Vault used to be the fastest event, but with this table raising and lowering it takes forever. I understand the argument to allow this but wow, it really has it’s drawbacks….
In Canada it seems to be Beam that is the slowest event with the 3 warm up, compete 1 system… (and with the beam height needing to be adjusted) Which was the case this weekend in the last session of Kyle Shewfelt… But the free massages were greatly appreciated by all!!
You wouldn’t see a lot of beam height adjustments in the USA. As for vault, it sure helps the wee ones but after a certain level I stick to ONE setting.
Great idea from Kyle since slow judging is one of the biggest problems with gymnastics at the moment.
I’ll be emailing our SJD this. As for the cash bonus, I can crank out the scores – just don’t get hurt or fall five times.
