I watched this meet online. I was impressed. They looked a hell of a lot better than they did when I watched them here at Stanford.
I watched bars and beam, and while I like UCLA particularly cause of the Canadian connection, I thought they were over scored on some routines. They did really well and hit 4 for 4, but I think the high 197 was not fully deserved. They had some missed connections, wobbles, missed handstands, big steps on dismounts, etc and were getting higher scores then what you would see in Big 10 and Big 12, where they often dissect routines quite harshly.
We all know that the SEC is the worst for inflated scores and questionable judging, I feel that the Pac-10 also is rather generous at times for the top schools. Granted, that its the talent that speaks for itself, but everyone knows that the top schools get the advantage of their reputation.
I was going to tape every routine from up close, but realized as soon as I got there that I forgot to put in a fresh pair of batteries in my camera. Oh, well! Still enjoyed just watching and running into friends there.
