This is a repost from Dec. 2007.
I put it back up in response to the discussion on the UCS Rounders covered foam post.
That foam atop the super durable Jim Walker suspension would be the ultimate. And probably costs less over the long term.

Jim Walker uses a unique design, suspending a grid of special cables one foot above the floor, supporting foam and matting above.
You cannot yet order one of Jim’s pits yourself, as he only custom builds them for friends. (Friends like WOGA, Beigers, Hills, Parkettes, Karolyi Ranch. Those kind of friends.)

The pit that was in Biegers (in the floor-balance beam area) was great… Shame that the gym close for bad administration last year….
What is the deal here? If Jim gives out information about the system so that folks can build it for themselves, it probably doesn’t matter if he is not going to be building it. If he doesn’t give or sell the info, then why do you keep giving out his email address?
People keep asking me how to get one of his pits.
The only way to do so, though, is to talk to him personally.
“The only way to do so, though, is to talk to him personally.”
So he does give (sell?) the information, he just won’t build it himself for people that are not his friencs. Ok.
Jim installs all his own pits.
Whether or not he can do yours depends on how busy he is.
Last year he agreed to come to Canada to install 2 pits. … (Did not happen, in the end, though.)
update on the rebounders still havent gotten them yet. it is taking forever. but they did realize half way through my order that we needed about 10000 instead of 7000 partially because of the slick material they dont stick to each other they sort of slide out of the way which im thinking will be good but it is turning into an expensive project
[...] After much consideration, I’m still leaning towards the Jim Walker design as best of the best. Print [...]
