That was linked from Crystal’s blog Exclamation Points, where she posts information for her competitive team.
There are a lot of coaches in my region now posting material on blogs, Facebook and YouTube just for their own team. A great trend.
Thanks Janet.

“The two first girls are so aggressive in their landing positions that the chalk comes up in clouds off the beam! ”
Since when does one have to have “aggressive” landing positions to get the chalk to fly up off the beam? You put enough chalk on the beam, and it’s going to fly off no matter what happens. We’ve seen enough of world athletes to know that a lot of them just just love to chalk things up.
Yes, Shergymrag, it is true. I agree that if you put enough chalk on the beam, that you could probably sneeze it off. However, few athletes and coaches I know put chalk on the beam for the purposes of making it cloud up. The purpose of the comment for my regional-level athletes was specifically to make a point regarding aggressive landings, and this was only one example. In our training, we spend a significant amount of time on beam landings and exploring different techniques. I was using the videos to elaborate on a point I made in earlier practices, and to give video representations of our verbal discussions that we have in training. This is the reason it is not a public blog, but a private one. But I appreciate your comment, and I perhaps you could make a suggestion or contribute positively on how to improve provincial-level beam for all gymnasts. My email is attached to this message for your convenience. Thank you.
