I don’t understand why elainec17 spends so much time making painstaking rapid cuts to great effect, and then ruins the work with conspicuous branding. Montage makers should be recognized and credited with producing a good remix, but this is ugly.

I agree to Rick. Make it smaller and to the left but I didn’t even bother watching because it was so distracting.
What’s not to understand? Obviously, it’s VERY important to the maker that people know they made the montage. If you don’t like such branding, boycott their montages. Better yet, make your own.

Why boycott but rather help stop people from stealing the montages and saying its their own. If you see it, boycott those people who are stealing. Don’t punish these people who work hard to make original montages.
I’ve never known whether or not a montage has been stolen. How would I know?
A subtle branding of a montage is alright with me. Our GymnasticsCoaching.com videos are branded. But this one is ugly. And it’s in every frame.
Speaking of stealing… didn’t Rick say that most of the footage is from Gymnastike? Did the montage maker have permission from Gymnastike? I didnt see any credit for the person who shot all that great video.
There is a credit note in the text of the YouTube page. But if I made a montage, I’d try to credit on the video, as well.

As far as I’m concerned, they need to ask permission from Gymnastike to use the footage. Plain and simple, it isn’t theirs to use! Gymnastike has done some copyright claims on Youtube already. AshleyAKAFlipper uses so much of Gymnastike’s footage that it is super frustrating. She doesn’t credit at all, at least this person did. AshleyAKAFlipper also uses the annoying watermark….maybe it’s a trend. “I’m going to use someone else’s footage then put a watermark on it so people will think it’s mine and not steal it!”
I haven’t spoken to Anne about that. But I suspect she’d agree to some kind of “fair use” of her video. Some use in exchange for link and credit.
That’s not what’s happening on YouTube montages now.
How do people download video without the Gymnastike brand? … No, don’t tell me. Better I don’t know.
“this is ugly”… thanks for that. the reason i use such a big watermark is to try to prevent other people posting it with different music and their watermark and saying it’s theirs (which has happened me several times by the way). i also stated the footage isn’t mine, as you know
