vault – Maroney or Sacramone?

Or both?

Much buzz on the interwebs after McKayla Maroney’s big vaults at Pan-Am Championships this weekend.

Click PLAY or watch them on YouTube.

She’s young. Improving. If she adds a full twist to the second vault (Cheng) she’d be easily the top U.S. vaulter over Alicia and other American contenders.

Note that she moved this year from GymMax to All Olympia Gymnastics Center.

Does anyone know if Jordyn Weiber is training a 2nd vault? I would like to see if Alicia could actually add the 1/2 twist, she keeps saying interviews that she can do the amanar, we have yet to see it.

Jordyn has mentioned earlier this year that she’s training a second vault. Obviously, it wouldn’t make much sense for her to unveil it until 2011. She mentions it around the 2:00min mark.

That Amanar was pretty good. Definitely gets the full rotation easily. Looks like the distance from the vault isn’t that impressive, but that seems to be more important for NCAA gymnastics then elite.

I heard that Alicia has been training an Amanar and a front handspring double twist. But I’m not sure she’ll be unveiling those soon.

Adding a full twist is easier said than done. Especially with THAT blocking technique.
