I was interested to see him not rule out Vanessa Zamarripa, for her Vault potential and high execution scores. That’s a long shot, though.
Likely things will change after VISA Championships.

I understand his analysis of the D scores, however I think Mattie will make the team. I see Hunter, Caquatto, or Raisman as the alternate.
Honestly, Zamarripa on the world team really would not be that bad. If she gets the Cheng that is a 6.5 SV. Then her bars, if she just gets a couple tenths on difficulty and a couple back on execution she could get a solid score- close to not if a 15, something we have really only seen from one gymnast- Bross. Then I could see Sami Shapiro sneeking on if she can just stay healthy and hit 4 clean routines- 2 bars and 2 beam. Her bars could easily be a 15 and her beam. Those two plus- Sac, Sloan, Bross, and ethier Larson or Raisman would be a great worlds team.
Hunter is a stretch. The only place her D score is top 3 (untied) is on BB. And I bet that others (Raisman, Larson) can perform better than her her on FX or VT (where she is tied for top3). and better than her on BB (with complete score). I would add Larson onto the team and bump Hunter to alternate or even lower (perhaps put Jetter or Whitcomb as alternate since the team has within squad subs for the leg events but not realy for bars).
Zampira is IN with a Cheng and OUT without one. It’s almost digital. the only thing that matters is if she can pull that vault off. THE ONLY THINK stopping her. Look at Williams getting a gold medal with a piked Rudi and a few months of post level 10 work! She needs to see if she can do that vault or not! (Getting bars up would be nifty as well…but that’s gravy and irrelevant wrt the vault.)
Is S. Shapiro out? I doubt Marta would send Zam or Kytra or even Mack. I’m thinking 1) Sac 2) Sloan 3) Bross 4) Larson and maybe Jetter & Whitcomb since they are 100% elite committed at the moment and not necessarily NCAA-bound right away (right?)
Sam Shap is a mess. she’s breaking and doesn’t really do good routines anyhow. The artistry lovers need to give it up and go watch pageants or something. Girl is not a good athlete.
No offense if she reads this. I know she’s trying her hardest. But the love for her is way NOT validated by her performance (in contrast to Larson who had a hell of a meet). I think I finally got Andy off of thinking she was good.
Larson is on the team and I cannot see Hunter or Mac on it. Zam will be there for vault now that Williams is a non-factor.
I don’t see why Alicia is a lock. She is useless except for vault. Her beam was a mess at classic. We need a team not a one event gymnast.
They are not taking Zam for one vault when she is useless on every other event.
This assumes that Sloan’s ankle gets better and that she gets back to full training soon.
hH: yes…they are.
I thought alicia’s beam was fine, plus she got 1st on beam, 3rd overall if you consider the juniors. I wouldn’t call that a mess.
I think it’s interesting that Andy’s Team would likely be World Champions right now! The only difference between his team and Marta’s team is Hunter instead of Larson. I think Kytra could have held it together enough to score more than a 12+ on floor when the team needed her.
