Note: I tried to check on this record on the Guinness site. No results for the search “Marcus Bondi”. Leave a comment if you can verify. It’s more likely under the name of the athlete.

Here is the Guinness link:

The most consecutive muscle ups performed is 25 by Jarryd Rubinstein (Australia) at Bondi Beach in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on 4 January 2010.

Blokes. Get out and beat that record. … No “kippiing”.

Is the record 25 or 26?

Impressive, but the whole thing about it being an official world record seems fishy. They say it was witnessed by a crowd and some officials, but I don’t see any crowd in that video. Furthermore, it would make more sense for guinness to insist on perfect execution, but there is definitely some kipping action here.

Nevertheless, it is still very impressive.

In CrossFit the “kipping” is a big issue. What should be allowed, what not?

The USMC PT test used to (or still does) allow kipping with pullups. That is a well easier movement than doing them strict as other services require. Strict is like how you do them for the physical fitness test in elementary school. no kip, normal width and all the way up and down.

My newfound interest in squatting and the like did make me check out the guys calves and thighs and butt (no homo). He does sorta have chicken legs compared to someone like Brett Contreras….

Little kipping. But is it possible to do it with absolutely no kip? I think a little hip bend/shoulder action is necessary to get on top of the bar…I think it would be almost physically impossible to have no kip at all.

I thought the record would be higher. I have some younger boys that do 15+.

I’m sure somebody has done more. … But likely never got it approved by that Irish beer company.

Coach Summers: one of the benefits of bodyweight training over weightlifting is that it is safer in prison. (Glad to give you a new insight, talking point! :) )
