Jordyn Wieber, coached by John Geddert at Twistars USA in Michigan, was the obvious athlete to represent the U.S. at the Youth Olympics, which requires female gymnasts to be born in 1995. (Male gymnasts must be born between 1993-94.)
Geddert and USA declined when Singapore made the decision to allow only 1 coach for both the male and female gymnast.
Understandable.
When organizers in Singapore (eventually) relented, allowing a personal coach for both MAG and WAG, I had hoped Jordyn Wieber might be entered after all. …
That’s not going to happen. IG posted the statement from USA Gymnastics.
Too bad.
Tickets are selling fast in any case. Gymnastics will be sold out soon.

What a bunch of idiots. That comment from our Federation had some real high pitched whine to it. What, we can’t make a selection? Have no idea who to send? They could have had a conference call. came up with several names, ranked. Called the coaches and made a decision. Yeah….the timeline was tight, but big deal. We got people humping it in Afghanistan and these worms can’t turn to and make a decision? We just didn’t want to support the thing.
