Japan Cup July 3-4, Tokyo

Big meet for MAG.

HAMBUECHEN vs UCHIMURA vs HORTON.

Update: For the USA, Alexander NADDOUR and John OROZCO have replaced Danell and Tim on the list below. (Thanks Anne.)

As good as Kohei Uchimura is, perhaps the 2008 Olympic Champion Yang Wei was even better.

That’s the opinion of Canadian Olympian Adam Wong.

Yang Wei was a little cautious in Beijing only because he had the AA sewn up if he could simply avoid any conspicuous error.

hey Rick,
The list of guys you show for the American men is different than what is posted on the meet website that you have linked. Just wanted to let you know!

Will post an update. Thanks.

The original team as posted on the USAG website was Horton, Leyva, Ruggeri, Naddour, Cameron

The link Anne is referring to has

BROOKS, Christopher
CAMERON, Christopher
HORTON, Jonathan
NADDOUR, Alexander
OROZCO, John

Brooks was the alternate, so that part makes sense. Orozco I know is going. I wonder what happened to Ruggeri?

I’m with Ono No Komachi, I thought that Ruggeri was going?

I’d bet real money that both of those lists are in error, Brooks is not going and Ruggeri is.

I’ve made a lot of losing gymnastics bets in my time, but this isn’t going to be one of them.

I thought Brooks was a little nicked up?

The team there is Horton, Brooks, Cameron, Naddour, Ruggeri, and Oroszco. They were going to decide today who would be the alternate. From all indications, they really look good…..
