It’s easy to criticize the parents for letting their “child” do something so dangerous:
A 13-Year-Old Kid Has Summited Everest
But this kid is no rookie. He’s already completed 6 of the 7 summits. In December he’s scheduled to attempt Vinson Massif in Antarctica.

There’s some age that’s “too young” for high altitude mountaineering. But I’m not sure what age that would be. It depends on the child, I’m thinking.
I fear some sort of age competition like the one to be the youngest to sail solo, unassisted around the world.
Perhaps F.I.G. could legislate the age.
… just kidding.

That’s sad… I mean, that’s great!!! It’s sad that I’m 43 and only dreaming about climing Everest, and this 13 year old kid just did it…
Everest, don’t go anywhere! I’m comming too…! Soon!!!
Hi…just to clarify, there is no real “competition” to become the youngest to sail around the world. As stated in my follow article – http://matadorsports.com/jessica-watson-completes-her-mission-sailing-around-the-world-at-16 – the under-18 category was abolished by the World Speed Sailing Record Council after Jesse Martin broke the record in 1999.
Jessica and her camp knew this beforehand, so this wasn’t a motivating factor in her accomplishment.
