okay not knocking her high skill level but where is the dance in that routine?? she walks into all of her skills.. no wonder she can jam it pack with so much she has no dance in there…
It’s a bit pikey, not what I was expecting from her. Hopefully she works that out.
If you go to Aunt Joyce and look at Sui Lu’s routine (she came 2nd), hers is just as “bad” re the lack of dance. The routines were quite similar, you know – same mount (using the Marta theory – keep it simple so that you don’t fall before you even start) opening tumble, leap sequence, wave arms, somi-sheep jump-split leap-wolf jump, side tumble, dismount with simple walking in between.
Have the Chinese lost their choreographer??? If the Chinese lose their artistry, where will that leave the sport of artistic gymnastics?
One elite coach commented to me today that he thinks the Chinese are “falling in to line”, doing the easiest routines for the maximum start value. Same as the rest of the world.
The days of them competing unique, or first-time-ever-skills, are over, he feels.
I hope he’s wrong
Cheesy mount.
I agree with the concept of the Chinese “falling in line”. Now that Beijing is over and the hype is long gone and in the aftermath of Dong Fangxiao underage and the doubters still about He Kexin, Yang Yilin, Jiang Yuyuan & Deng Linlin’s ages, I think they will take it easy for awhile. A natural reaction to guilt, I’d say.
