teaching blind change on Bars

This is one of the most problematic skills in gymnastics.

Gymnastics-Skills.com posted a unique series of drills.

This is one small piece of a coaching strategy. I’ve never used this drill, but I like how it encourages lateral displacement of the centre of gravity.

Can’t wait to try that drill out.

we dont have a trench bar, but I have stacked blocks up and done this drill on the regular set of bars. It works even better if your kids are small enough to do this on the low bar (you dont need as many blocks this way!)

I also use this drill for the L5 dismount off bars!!

I like Wendy, we don’t have a trench bar; and like Wendy, I’ve done a similar setup for the level 5 dismount.

I think one of the best ways to get blind changes is to do as guys do: swinging half turns, from handstand to handstand.

This is a good drill, but be careful, because many times the gymnasts fall back into the channel!! We use this to teach our kids blind changes by themselves.
