Press coverage of that meet was terrible this year. Seems we have too many bloggers, not enough reporters in 2010.

They should allow bloggers to act as reporters and give them press passes in that case. That would amp coverage tremendously. The media need to get over perceiving bloggers as a threat to their hallowed journalistic institutions and realise that some bloggers seriously know their stuff and would make valuable contribution to under-represented sports.

Ouch. You’ve hit a sore point with me.

Many times I’ve requested press credentials at American meets for GymnasticsCoaching.

Invitationals, no problem. But if USAG or NCAA is involved, they are very suspicious. Or simply say NO.

I also learned that it’s often better not to have credentials as the media has hundreds of restrictions on what you can post.
