Work ethic? You have got to be kidding me. Charlie wants us to fund all of his training and living expenses because he thinks he is entitled to the same opportunities as Jonathan Horton. Here’s a bit of advice Charlie. How bout showing up to these USAG meets in shape, prove you belong on the national team, and then we’ll talk about funding. Don’t give me that excuse that you only can train 1 hour a day or you were injured 5 months earlier. Jovtchev won world titles and placed in the top 10 in AA while training on his lunch breaks. Scherbo spent the latter part of his career fat and out of shape but was still good for world medals. The best gymnasts make do with what they have.
When I see sob stories about some of our Olympians, who have spouses and children and who work all sorts of odd jobs to pay for their training, it makes me sick to see someone like Charlie whining that he can’t have the good life.
I liked the quintuple (5 rotations) flip from the tramp into the pit- it is not anything useful for competitions but it’s cool.
Seems like a remix of stuff we’ve seen before.
Charlie is an amazing athlete and person. He gives up so much to train and become one of the best. I am close friends with him and would fund his career if I could. He trains away from his wife and doesnt get to see her much. He is one of the most giving people I know. Please dont listen to the ignorant jealous people who dont know what they are talking about. Charlie just needs a break and for someone to notice his talents and support him. He is a wonderful person and athlete just trying to make his dreams come true!
