Fishbulb linked to a cool skill on the IG Forum.
This is Illinois gymnast Allison Buckley competing, I think, in a High School meet some years ago.
Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.
We recently linked to a video of Charlie Tamayo doing a similar skill, what I called Stalder Tkachev Front in training on Horizontal Bar.
Men might call it Stalder Xiao Ruizhi as the same skill from giant is named after that Chinese gymnast in the Men’s Code.
On the Women’s side it’s often referred to as the “Counter Kim” after 1991 Bars Champion Kim Gwang Suk. Other’s call it “Marinich” after Vitaly Marinich, one of the first Men to compete it.
In fact, Allison calls it Marinich on her Player Bio.

I think what’s more impressive than the skill is the audience involvement. One second of gasping fear that she’s done something wrong–then uproarious cheering. And awesome attendance for a high school meet.
Apparently she’s not doing it anymore now that she’s in college.
This routine illustrates the best thing about gymnastics. Every gymnast can shine even though they may not be great at everything. Seriously, doesn’t it seem like sub-elite gymnasts debut just as many cool/difficult skills as the top elites.
This is the high school state meet, which is why the attendance is so high. Allison literally grew up in the gym that her parents owned. Which no doubt was a supportive environment to learn skills like this. What strikes me as awesome is that in h.s. gymnastics there is no reason to be doing such a ridiculously hard skill, but there it is.
I absolutely love Allison!! She’s the only reason I watch gymnastics..
