I’ve never really understood the purpose of the second drill. What does that do?
The 2nd drill is for balance. It helps teach the gymnast how to get back in balance while keeping the rings in the right position. If you let them do it by themselves they often turn the rings back in and bend their arms rather than keep the correct position.
