Coach Rick is partly right and partly wrong, as his statement is true when the skill is performed in straight position it is neraly impossible to make a difference between different skills with the same amount of twists. Therefore is this case it is clearly a half in rudy (1 1/2) out tuck, where a full in full out tuck, double full in back out tuck or back in double full out tuck would be ruled 4 different skills in trampoline.

Yeah it is a bit ridiculous. I don't think I'd give it credit as a new skill - it's a double-double to me.

My first impression is that it does look sloppy. Not very artistic at all. Still kinds cool, though.

I see similar issues with this and with the pineda/cassina on high bar.

I have no objections to naming the skill after Diego, but I don't think a gymnast should be allowed to do both this and a double-double in the same routine and get credit for both.

I think that trampoline only give similar skills the same value because they are close in physical difficulty. I think the range of difficulty for a double double, and this skill is larger

It's not sloppy but he starts the 1.5 "out" before even starting the second flip. To me it's the same as a double double. Two twists two flips. If it's listed as a Hypolito 3 then it needs to be considered the same element as a tucked double double. Much like a wolf 1/1 and tuck 1/1 are considered the same in the women's code on beam.

I only think it would be a problem if he does that AND a 'regular' double double in a routine. But it looks like a legitimate skill to me. Once it's value is the same as a tucked double double then what's the problem?

Perhaps "sloppy" is the wrong word.

Maybe a truly "bad" double double would be more accurate.
