An update from Bekah on the IG Forum on Cheerleader / Powertumbler Kiara Nowlin.
She’s on the U.S. national tumbling team and won gold in Double Mini and Tumbling at this year’s Age Group Games in the 13-14 age group. She’s also the Double Mini and Tumbling U.S. Junior Champion.

very impressive. I find it interesting how much longer it takes tumbling gymnasts to get their bearings at the end of the pass than it does Artistic Gymnasts. Of course that’s only natural, but it’s still amazing how she can stick it and not topple over from dizzy-ness (non-gymnast talking here ;p )

Gymfan, it’s a rule. To show a stick, you have to hold for three seconds (which feels like forever). There’ve never been controlled lunges in power tumbling.
Anya, that’s interesting about the rule. I just wonder why she still waits for the three seconds after she already took a step. Is there a deduction for not standing there for three seconds whether you stick or not? Is it a strategy? Like just in case the judges didn’t see the step, the gymnast should act like they stuck anyway?
Is she ever going to be in the 2012 Olympics? I don’t know if she does bars, beam, vault, and everything else but, I think that she would definitely make it to the Olympics. Kiara, I think that you should go for the Olympics!!!
