… superstar gymnast Beth Tweddle will become an MBE after being included in this New Year honours list.

Beth, from Bunbury near Chester, is one of only twenty people named as members of the Order of the British Empire sporting honours list for her services to gymnastics.

The 24-year-old, dubbed Tweddle the Medal, joins Formula One racing champion Jenson Button on the list which was published yesterday by Her Majesty the Queen.

I know it’s a prestigious order and a very big deal for Beth but I can’t help but think of Bill and Ted whenever the words ‘Most Excellent’ are used together like that. Guess it shows how old I am.

Um Rick, just and FYI, Beth can’t become a knight. She doesn’t have the right body parts ;) Once this order is bestowed, it in the case of women (as Beth is one as far as I know) it leads to Dame-hood.
