new – Science of Gymnastics Journal

Check this out.

A new online journal dedicated to research in gymnastics. The editorial board includes several high profile gymnastics sport scientists (e.g. Hardy Fink, Bill Sands, Istvan Karascony, etc.).

The first issue (PDF) has just been published. Clicking on that link should open it as a document on your computer.

Ivan Cuk is Editor-in-Chief

English is the main language but they are accepting articles in other languages.

I’m super excited about this great new initiative. How many times has Dr. Jeni McNeal told me that gymnastics research is “dying”? (Jeni might be dying herself this weekend, competing in the U.S. Adventure Race National Championship in Pilot Point, TX)

Pass this link along to anyone you know who might be interested.

would love to look at this more… unfortunately the pdf link isn’t working for me, it just sits in a load mode.

This is incredible! I work for a scientific / health science publisher and I understand how valuable journals are in general. Can’t wait to read!

Hey this site has some great information about gymnastics! currently I am doing a dissertation on how China produce gold medal athletes and comparing there training method to other countries with a lower gold medal percentage in the Olympic games. can anyone suggest where I would get valuable information?

Excellent topic, Hailey.

Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll be able to collect data without interviewing coaches from China.

Western coaches who have visited China will help, but they are too far removed from the actual culture and system.

Good luck.
