gymnasts Rebecca Downie, Youna Dufournet

Recall that Andrew Thornton named 6 gymnasts the main contenders for AA medals at the upcoming World Championships.

Here are 2 more contenders – American Gymnast – Andy’s Angle – Two dark-horses for London

They both have great Bars.

Generally I have been critical of the 2008 code of points for Women. (It’s too soon to say regarding the 2012 revisions.) But it’s certain that we would NEVER have seen Bar routines anything like this without an open-ended scoring system.

I could even concede that Bars and Vault have been a success under the new rules.

Floor and Beam were more interesting and entertaining back in the days of a 10.0 maximum.

The only thing new about these bar routines is they're crammed full of tricks. Not new or harder tricks, just lots more. This is the same situation with floor and beam. Everything Youna and Becky do was seen in the old code, just not crammed all together, mixed in with loads more pirrouettes.

First bar routine doesn't do it for me – same release twice, blah.

I'll agree that bars is a success, but if I see another DTY I'm going to scream! They really need to do something about the vault variety problem.

I'd forgotten about Becky Downie's great stalder tkachev. I love that skill and don't see it enough! Unfortunately, as I recall she looked rather tired the last time we saw her at the American Cup. Let'shope a she's back to top form.

I hear she's in great shape for World's at home. Nice.
