I should just start making a series of videos about teaching skills out of the blue – people will be like, "Who the heck is this chick"? Maybe it will make a name – good or bad – for myself, hehehe! Facebook here I come!
Please do.
I completely second that also. please do start and let us know when/if you do so i can subscribe.
I don't look at videos cause they are from someone with a name, i look based on their content.
YouTube has the potential to make National Congresses irrelevant. I enjoy the social atmosphere of getting together with other coaches over a weekend, but you can't beat free, easily accessible and perpetually replayable information. Certainly, it could just perpetuate the same worthless "knowledge," but anyone who cares can sift through all the bad stuff and discover new and worthwhile info as well.
I applaud anyone who takes the time to help others out with free knowledge in their field of expertise. There is also value in learning from coaches who manage to make 'average' athletes regional and national champions, even if they are not part of the elite scene at this time. What's harder…to polish up an elite athlete, or to create a college-scholarship gymnast out of the average kid?
Not that it's "easy" to develop and keep healthy a super talented elite gymnast, … but I'd agree that I admire more a coach who can get many girls of different body types College scholarships. John Geddert jumps to mind as a coach who given the same athlete, the same amount of training time, will get a better result than almost any other coach.
