I personally don’t do it. I actually don’t even most of the time answer my phone when i am coaching.
I have just started coaching rec again to help out in the gym, and so far i can recall don’t think i have seen any of our coaches on their cells.
If i do see it though i will definitely crack the whip. It should be a huge NO NO!
I don’t think we have a policy on mobile phones specifically for coaches. I would never answer my phone during a training session but it’s usually out on the table for use as a clock more than anything else as we don’t have a clock in the gym!
For everyone in the gym, coaches, kids, parents alike, phones must be on silent or switched off. The kids are allowed to bring phones to training but not allowed to use them during the session – we have a 15 minute break in the middle of the session and they are allowed to use them then.
I was judging a beam routine when the head judge answered her cell phone. I cowered in disbelief.
Don’t bring them on the floor with me – nothing is that important that I need to be disturbed during work. There is a lawsuit waiting to happen to the coach that does talk on their phone or text during class.
my phone is only on the floor to do quick video.
