I actually went to this fashion show just to see what it was all about and to get a look at the new season’s leotards and I have to admit that they put on a good show. It featured appearances from 5 of the 2008 British Olympians, Beth Tweddle, Becky Downie, Marissa King, Rebecca Wing and Hannah Whelan, plus lots of younger gymnasts. Mike Barnes, Charlie Burrows and Jordan Ramos were there representing GB’s tumblers. Francesca Fox (British Rhythmic gymnast) was also there as was a British sports acro pair.
The gymnastics was very limited with it being a short catwalk – the most we saw was a full from Barnzie and Charlie Burrows. The Sports Acro pair wowed the audience the most with some of their balances and lifts.
It was quite well put together and an interesting way to launch and promote the new collection. The gymnasts were available after the shows to pose for photographs and sign autographs.
The leotards were available to look at and try on but you could only order them on the day rather than buy them due to the Trafford Centre’s regulations. Next year I think they should hire a store unit for the day and just sell them. They also offered 15% off all orders on the day. I ordered a leotard from the show on Thursday and it arrived this morning (Saturday). I was all around very impressed.
Some of the leotards (boys especially) are a little bit ‘out there’ though!
I also went to the milano fashion show at the trafford centre. It was really well put together.
To have members of the olympic team up here in Manchester was fantastic. Considering the package costs to the worlds at the O2 is far to expensive for me to take my children to, this gave them the opportunity to actually MEET their idols (which I’m sure wouldn’t have happened at the O2)
I was very much impressed with the four youngest models who really stole the show. I know my daughers were interested in the famous models I thought the youngest four were amazingly confident and showed up the older models in their strutting!
The acro pair were also very good and considering the lack of space so was the tumbling section. (Although I have to admit I was not too keen on the ‘street style’ models’ routine. Good clothes, not so good routine)
They should have bought those little ones on more as they really lit up the stage! My youngest has asked if she can go up there next year (if only if she was so lucky!)
Are they on junior british team as they were not signing photos?
I too ordered leotards on the day and received them promptly. Excellent service and a really enjoyable day.
