In Canada I had to watch episode 3 on YouTube (part 1). No doubt it will be taken down soon.
Watch it free online in the USA.
A new coach arrives at The Rock. Oddly he’s a Brit who seems to have moved to Romania to train. With the name Sasha Belov. The “James Bond version of Bela Karolyi“. And despite his youth, he retired 5yrs-ago.
Who writes this stuff?
Again there’s almost no gymnastics.

My opinion: if there’s almost no gymnastics in the show, it can only be a good thing. The writers have no experience, but they have LOADS of experience in writing crappy, generic teen drama. So they’re playing to their strengths.
I missed episode 3 with the simple excuse: the show isn’t so amazing that I’m inclined to rearrange my weekly schedule around it. As Geoffrey mentioned, MIOBI is a generic teen drama, not necessarily a sports drama (and too bad — I’d love a really good sports drama about gymnastics). Just as science types or astronomy enthusiasts have to suspend their disbelief when presented with, say, the pseudo-science of early Star Trek episodes, so do gymnasts / gymnastics fans have to realize MIOBI is not so much about gymnastics as it is about a couple of teenagers (who just happen to be gymnasts) going through the teen drama motions.
What I’ve surmised after two episodes: it’s cute, but nothing special. Let’s hope it doesn’t get more “The OC” than it already is. :p
A brit.. I haven’t seen the third episode, but i’m guessing it’ll be a horrible accent, it almost always is. Does he have bad teeth too, to make sure the americans get their stereotype?!
Hmmmm? New young coach. Did he start a secret relationship with one of the gymnasts? If not, wanna bet he’s going to?
I’m just glad they got those parents off of the gym floor.
It’s definitely a drama with a gymnastics backdrop and nothing more. So far they are spending more time on gym politics than gymnastics itself. Its a far cry from Stick It–which, while it was no movie of the year, was a good excuse to get some cool tricks on screen.
I’m enjoying it for what it is–crappy TV that lets me fantasize about being a gymnast.
