new TV show on Gymnastics hopefuls

I had been looking forward to a new TV show called Perfect 10. Original announcements included descriptions like this:

“Perfect 10″ is set in the world of competitive gymnastics and follows a group of teen Olympic hopefuls.

Seems it will launch on ABC June 22nd. But be called “Make It or Break It”:

… Big-time gymnastics is the setting for Make It or Break It, an ABC Family drama (June 22, 9 p.m. ET/PT) that follows Olympic hopefuls at an elite Colorado training academy. …

USA Today – ‘Make It’: Families bend over backward for young gymnasts

I doubt it’s going to be very popular with the readers of this blog. Can you forsee all the inaccuracies?

“Roz” Doyle (actress Peri Gilpin) from the TV sitcom Frazier is the mother of one of the top gymnasts, played by actress Ayla Kell.

One report even said Peri Gilpin would be the Coach.

The interwebs are conflicting on all this.

Leave a comment if you know more about this TV show. Especially if you know at what gym it filmed. And what gymnasts acted as stunt doubles for the “stars”.

Click PLAY or watch the “teaser” promo on YouTube.

Looks disappointing already.

Wow, that will be interesting. I think if I ever watch it, it will drive me crazy knowing all of the inaccuracies and knowing that there are tons of other people watching it and just gobbling it up. But you know, all TV shows are like that. They are all inaccurate to some degree and they problably bug the heck out of people who know what it’s really like. For example, all doctor shows drive my dad insane because he is a doctor, but I think they are interesting and fun to watch. So maybe if we just take it at face value it wont be so bad…?

I just wish they would actually pick girls who remotely have the body type of most elite gymnasts. Those girls dont even look particularly athletic or defined never mind like gymnasts.

Kalya, my mom’s the same way! She couldn’t stands parts of ER because things like that. I had a major issue with bones last night. It happens. With any TV shows. Even reality ones!

I’m pretty sure Ashely Postell is a stunt double for this show.

I think it will appeal to the average ABC Family age crowd which is like 13.

I do have to say it is kinda odd, and looks dumb but i am not 13 so who knows

The actresses have been taking private gymnastics lessons with a coach they brought in at the gym where I work. One of them seems like she was a gymnast in the past. The other two… well, you’ll see!

Hey, as long as it portrays gymnastics in a positive light, it’s fine by me.

My friend is one of the crew members, she says they film on a stage that has been turned into a full working gym. Makes sense, I can’t really imagine a gym allowing that kind of intrusion.

LOL from the clip it looks like they missed something obvious – where are all the videocameras in the stands? You know all parents are videotaping their kids!
