You may have seen the old “Packman” mat used for introducing backward handsprings to beginners.
OK for Rec. But these mats have been criticized by many coaches. The technique is not ideal as the knees and hips are too bent.
Norbert’s has made a huge leap forward with their newest trainer:
Unique “single flat side” design ensures Boulderâ„¢ is stable at starting position and always automatically returns to it after eash use. …
Three sizes available: 35″ Small Boulderâ„¢ (users up to 60″ tall), 40″ Medium Boulderâ„¢ (users from 60″-66″ tall) or 44″ Large Boulderâ„¢ (users 67″ or taller).

Looks weird, right? But check the video to see how well it works. AWESOME.

haha cool i like it, however the problem with all these trainers is that that they only teach help with the first part, which really can be taught just as effectively without a pricy piece of equipment (not saying this is..as i haven’t seen a price).
The snap down is the hard part. From the video its clear that the girls demonstrating can do flics already, but their snap downs aren’t great coming of the ‘boulder’.
I would do this drill close to a wall and practice doing it jump back and snap to dish against the wall, and to front support, but i wouldn’t bother doing the snap down of the bounder.
All and all its a nice improvement to the PacMan

Of course you are right, Valentin.
I’ve no need for this machine, either.
But for a great many Rec programs, Cheer teams, etc., I think it’ll be popular.
It looks much better than that stinking packman.
If you’re worried about the snap-down (or snap-up) I usually put another smaller octogon or mailbox on the other side to force them go over that as well. It works quite nicely.
