I have to agree about the compulsory routines. Yuck to watch but of course it makes for easier judging.
There are a lot of things that make the US system easier. Especially when it comes to coaching. Not necessarily a better situation. They don't have the strict rules we have. But it is SO hard to find rec coaches and the Canadian system puts so many obstacles in the way of getting them coaching.... I could go on and on.
The greater number of girls competing has so much more to do with how they program and not so much to do with the greater population base.
What do the do about fees? Here it has become the sport only rich families can afford to be competitive in. I am not rich and it is really hurting our family financially to have 2 girls in comp gym. (and one in pre-comp)

"I wish Canada would adopt the American system."

Really?? I mean obviously they're doing something right considering their top spot internationally...but I'm not a fan of those lower level compulsory routines. They don't allow for any individuality in the routines and it just seems so boring! Both to train and watch....I can't imagine watching a meet with 100 girls having the same music. I think there should definitely be compulsory skills in each level but with some individuality.
