[...] On the VOX network, Lightbulb Hands - The Perfect 10 Lives is a pretty blog as well. I have to visit the site directly — Lightbulb Hands — as Google Reader cannot seem to find an RSS feed. And it has no “subscribe by email” function. We’ve linked to it under BLOGS in the right hand navigation. [...]

Thanks, excellent points well taken, especially concerning revenue. OK, I guess I will leave the full feed on for now. I have to say, I'm not sure I would want to 'feed' ads to my readers (as few as they are!), either, even though I am likely to go broke trying to make any money from my college gymnastics content.

Right.

The compromise is to offer partial RSS feeds which provide a teaser to the entire post. You click through to read the rest.

Personally I hate partial feeds and often unsubscribe to blogs the first time I get frustrated.

Some of the top blogs (Lifehacker.com, for example) use Feedburner.com to insert ads into their RSS feeds.

I may do that myself one day. I'm not sick of those ads ... YET.

The jury is still out.

In 2007 there is SO LITTLE REVENUE in blogging that it's hardly worth the bother fussing with them.

You have to look to find the Google ads on this page. They are buried.

On the other hand - and no offense - but I have considered removing the feed from my site. As much as I like the idea of 'streamlining' the internet experience for everyone, it is not exactly in my best (financial) interest drive actual viewers away from my site. On the other, other hand, my ignorance on the whole subject of RSS should never be underestimated! I would welcome any advice/suggestions about this.
