This is OT, but could you do a post on strength moves on rings? Few things, I don’t understand:
-
A. Very rarely do gymnasts do a full 2.000 seconds (from stopping movement) in the position. This is more obvious later in routines where moves seem to last a second or even less. But even at the beginning, many are a tenth of a second shy of 2 seconds (few are ever over).
B. Is an inverted cross supposed to have horizontal arms like a regular cross? I have never seen this and think it would be very hard. (I have seen fully horizontal Malteses, although many are a little planchey).
C. Why is a V-seat on rings an A? (I think on floor it is still a B? This makes no sense. It’s actually rather tricky to do a V-seat on rings and most elite gymansts can’t. (I was the only one at a competitive uni in the 80s who did and when I worked out with the 88 Olympians, most could not also.)
D. I think full display of strength is shown by doing a cross PULLOUT from a fully horizontal cross. Many super rings guys don’t seem to do this. But the best strength rings man, I ever saw always did it. (Tom Ferguson, USNA 84-88, his body was incredibly muscular and he did iron crosses with small people hanging from him).
